From the very beginning of the operation of the British Philip Morris International in Ukraine in 1994, the production facilities of the company were located in Kharkiv. Now the entire region is under daily Russian missile attacks, which endangers not only the production infrastructure but also, first of all, the lives of the company's employees. Therefore, PMI is moving its production to the facilities of the Imperial Tobacco factory in Kyiv. The start of production in the new region will already occur this month.
"Today, our country is going through difficult times, but thanks to the cooperation and mutual assistance, we are able to overcome difficulties. The Imperial Tobacco factory in Kyiv has a significant production potential and a strong professional team to ensure the production of additional volumes of products in a high-quality and timely manner. Since the beginning of the war, our company cannot carry out export deliveries, so the agreement with Philip Morris will allow us to load our capacities. For us, this is a unique experience, which became possible due to the critical conditions in which the country is now," head of the board of Imperial Tobacco Production Ukraine, Halyna Vorobiova.
According to Maxym Barabash, general director of Philip Morris Ukraine, the transfer of production is a temporary measure and is aimed solely at ensuring the safety of the company's employees and their families, as well as preserving jobs. After the end of the war, the company will return to Kharkiv. In this way, a company with British investments supports the economy of Ukraine and helps us to win.
Imperial Tobacco Ukraine and JSC Imperial Tobacco Production Ukraine belong to British Imperial Tobacco. In Ukraine, the company produces tobacco products under the brands Chesterfield, Bond Street, Marlboro, L&M, Parliament and others, and the alternative product IQOS.
