It seems that Russia wants to isolate itself from the diplomatic community before the end of the war in Ukraine. The court in The Hague rendered its verdict in favor of Ukraine. The International Court of Justice has called on Russia to immediately cease crimes against civilians and withdraw its troops. However, the Russian government is not ready to comply with the organization’s decision.
"No, we cannot take this decision into account. The international court has the notion of "consent of the parties". There can be no consent here," said the press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation Dmytro Peskov.
Ukrainian officials responded promptly to such a statement. According to Ukrainian politicians, refusal to comply with the court’s decision should be accompanied by other refusals.
"In this case, Russia should renounce other rights under the UN statute. First of all, from the right of veto in the security council and immunities," said the speaker of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.
Russia once again violates not only the integrity of the country but also human rights and international rules of warfare. It now rejects the decision of the United Nations.
