Russian Attempts to Erase Ukrainian Culture

The Russian war destroyed 1.521 cultural objects in Ukraine: libraries, theatres, museums, etc.

On February 24, 2022, the "Russian world" came to the territory of Ukraine and manifested itself in its entirety: killing civilians and burning libraries. The Ministry of culture of Ukraine reports that the Russian army destroyed 1.521 cultural objects in Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine. The last destroyed cultural object recorded to date is the house-museum of the Ukrainian artist Polina Rayko in Oleshki town, Kherson region. You see a piece of this house on the cover. The house went underwater, like the whole Oleshki town, due to the Russian undermining of the Kakhovka dam.

The data is not final because most of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions are still under occupation. Thus, the Ukrainian side does not yet have access to the facilities. Previously, Russia destroyed 727 cultural clubs, 571 libraries, 83 museums and galleries, 25 theatre and philharmonic, and 115 institutes of art education.

Out of 1.521 objects, 542 cannot be restored.
