Killers of Civilians

The prime minister of Ukraine said that the number of civilians killed is 10 times higher than the losses of the Ukrainian army

On 24 February, Russia launched a war against the Ukrainian people and independence. The occupying army rarely strikes military targets, but often destroys civilians, their homes, and their work.

According to the prime minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the figures of the dead civilians and defenders of the country differ dozens of times.

"The number of civilian casualties is ten times greater than that of the military. This proves that the Russian army and Russia are at war with the civilian population of Ukraine, not with our armed forces," said Shmyhal in an interview with the BBC News of Ukraine.

During the 96 days of the war, it is known about:

  • 242 children were killed;
  • More than 22.000 killed inhabitants of Mariupol;
  • 1.086 bodies of civilians in the Kyiv region;
  • more than 500 were killed in the Chernihiv region;
  • 200 dead in the Sumy region;

Note that these calculations are approximate. It is also impossible to make calculations in the captured territories of the Kherson, Donetsk, and Lugansk regions. Data on Mariupol are approximate and are based on satellite imagery, reconnaissance, and the War institute.

The most dangerous situation now among the residents of the Donetsk region. According to the head of the regional military administration, Serhii Haidai, the occupiers are raping, maiming, and killing up to several people daily.
