In March, a meeting of the economic committee of the parliament of Ukraine and the economic committee of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania took place. Delegations met in Lviv and discussed the deepening of relations in the transport sector. In particular, the Ukrainian side and Lithuania's Ministry of transport and communications considered the possibility of creating a common European corridor.
Transport branches relate to railway and sea routes. Ukraine and Lithuania can combine the ports of Klaipeda and Odesa. A corridor will be created between the Baltic and Black seas. It is expected that the creation and unification of European routes with Ukraine will create good throughput, improve railway communication, and increase the volume of cargo transportation. It is planned to involve the institutions of the European Union in expanding the TEN-T network. The first stage will be determining the steps of the EU-Ukraine projection.
"Such a corridor bypassing Belarus and Russia is important not only for Lithuania but also for other Baltic countries to effectively use their seaports and go to Southern Europe," said Lithuanian deputy transport minister Loreta Maskaliovene.
