Seals and Penguins Know Where Kherson Is
The station has a pole with signs that suggest the direction to Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Bucha, Cherkasy, Izmail and several cities outside of Ukraine. Now, against the backdrop of snow-white expanses, a watermelon pointer to Kherson brightly flaunts. Today, the de-occupied city was again crowned with the flag of Ukraine, and the 27th expedition of Ukrainians to Antarctica supported their people thousands of km from home.
It is worth noting that on the same pillar, there is a pointer to London. Perhaps this is a tribute to gratitude because it was England that transferred its station to Ukraine, which has now grown into Academician Vernadsky (named after a well-known Ukrainian geochemist).
We remind you that earlier scientists from international scientific stations in Antarctica held a march against the war because it harms the environment, provokes an increase in global warming and leads to the death of animals.
