Conversely, Austria has opted not to participate in this initiative, citing its stance on military neutrality. This was confirmed by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.
The decision came to light following a meeting in Ljubljana of the Central 5 informal group, which consists of Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia. The group's discussions prominently featured Ukraine, highlighting the collective concern and support for the country within the Central European region.
In addition to military aid, Slovenia has expressed its intention to continue supporting Kyiv through various forms of assistance, including reconstruction efforts, demining activities, and providing rehabilitation and psychosocial support for affected children and families.
