Spain’s Investment in Business and Energy in Ukraine

The state has allocated €59 mln in direct funding and through the World Bank

On July 1, Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez was in Kyiv on a diplomatic mission. After negotiations with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Sanchez spoke in the Verkhovna Rada. The minister said Spain intends to support small and medium businesses in Ukraine.

"Today my country, Spain, has decided to allocate an additional €55 million, including €51 million through the World Bank, to finance SMEs in Ukraine," Pedro Sanchez.

An additional 4 million will be used to restore destroyed and build new schools in Ukraine using green energy systems.

Minister Sanchez said that Spain has rich experience in various areas of business and production, which they are ready to share with those who will restore Ukraine. First, engineers from Spain will help the Ukrainians restore the railway.

"The Spanish government will support funding to adapt and modernise the infrastructure in your country. However, we understand that recovery and prosperity will only come if conditions of lasting security are achieved," said Minister Sanchez.
