At the end of 2021, governmental avia-engineering company Antonov concluded with governmental company Zaporizhzhia mechanical-engineering design bureau Progress named after academician A. G. Ivchenko a contract for the modernization of the turbojet engine used on the An-178-100P aircraft.
As stated to national e-procurement system ProZorro data released at the site, a contract worth $2.4 billion was concluded on December 29, 2021.
The chief state aviation engineer of Ukraine ordered from the flagship engine developer works on upgrading of the engine D-436-148FM to the model D-436-148FM-1 following the technical assignment and its certification with subsequent modifications to the standard design.
According to the contract terms, the Ivchenko-Progress specialists must complete the work by 31 March 2024.
Let us remind, the new two-circuit turbojet engine D-436-148FM was designed to equip An-178 cargo aircraft based on D-436-148 (placed on An-148/158 and Be-200 aircraft) at the end of 2015.
The imported D-436-148FM was intended to be fitted with the An-178 prototype (Air Force 001) and the three An-178-100R for naval forces of Ukraine ordered at the end of 2020.
