Steel exports in Ukraine increased by 5.3%

According to Ukrmetallurgprom, in the period from January to April 2021, metallurgy production in Ukraine increased by 6.39 million tons of rolled metal, which is 7.02% more, compared to the same period last year.

About 5.32 million tons of the total volume of rolled metal products, 83.2%, were exported. For 5 months of 2020, the share of exports amounted to 84.5%. In 2021, the export indicators of metal products in comparison with 2020 increased by 5.31%.

For 4 months of 2021, the capacity of the domestic rolled metal market increased by 7.79% as compared to January-April 2020, and at the same time, the share of the import component decreased by 5.79%.

At the beginning of 2021, there was a noticeable excess of flat products over long products in the import structure (54.10% and 43.33%). It should be noted that for the period of 2020, the situation was completely different: long products dominated over flat products.
