Stoltenberg Sees Ukraine in Alliance

"I expect the leaders to confirm that Ukraine will become a member of NATO"

On July 7, on the eve of the NATO summit, Jens Stoltenberg told reporters that a tripartite assistance package to Ukraine would be made public in Vilnius, which would be submitted for consideration and adoption by the Alliance member states.

"At the summit, we will make Ukraine even stronger and lay out a vision for its future. I expect the Allies to adopt a three-element package to bring Ukraine closer to NATO," Stoltenberg.

It is planned that the summit participants will discuss and approve a program of military support for Ukraine designed for several years. Thanks to this program, gradually but surely, Ukraine will be rearmed from Soviet military specimens to modern NATO-style weapons. Then, in the event of the next Russian attack on Ukraine, our state will not have to look everywhere for obsolete shells compatible with our absolute artillery.

Further. Relations between Ukraine and NATO will be brought to another qualitative level.

"And 3rd, I expect the leaders to confirm that Ukraine will become a NATO member and be united on bringing Ukraine closer to its goal," Stoltenberg.

The NATO secretary general also announced that Zelenskyy would attend the inaugural meeting of the new NATO-Ukraine Council on July 12.
