On April 24, a meeting was held in Vienna with the federal minister of finance of Austria, Magnus Brunner, and the USA under secretary for counterterrorism and money laundering, Brian Nelson. The negotiations confirmed that in the conditions of Russian barbarity, the cooperation of progressive countries and the fight against lawlessness are critically important.
"Especially in the light of the war in Ukraine, the strategic axis between the EU and the USA is of great importance. The effective enforcement of sanctions against Russia is in the interests of Austria, Europe and the USA. We support Western sanctions against the aggressor and have frozen almost €2 billion in financial assets since the war began," Magnus Brunner.
In February of this year, the United States, for the first time, seized $5.4 million from Russian businessmen and is currently studying the possibility of transforming these funds into reparations for Ukraine. Another $300 million, which the USA sanctioned in other countries, can also be withdrawn and transferred to the reconstruction of our state.
