"What is happening in Ukraine now is terribly painful. We are seeing human suffering, destruction on a scale that we have not seen in Europe since the Second World War. And I would like to note the courage of the Ukrainian people standing on their feet against the Russian invasion, against Putin's forces. And that is why we are stepping up our support," NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg said.
