On June 26, the Swedish government announced allocating a package of humanitarian and rehabilitation assistance for Ukrainians. $3.55 million (kr1 = $0.09) will be directed towards health and medical transport, housing, water/energy restoration in frontline regions, food, hygiene products, medicines, legal advice and psychosocial support, support; assistance to Ukrainians affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka dam.
"The needs in Ukraine are huge and even more urgent after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam on June 6. As fighting intensifies on the frontline, humanitarian organisations must stand ready to support and support civilians in need of assistance. Sweden's support helps our partners to be on the ground and act in the short and long term where they are most needed. This big summer humanitarian package will greatly benefit Ukraine," Swedish minister for international cooperation and development Johan Forssell.
Assistance will be channelled through UNDP, the Red Cross and Sida. On February 24, Sweden donated kr1.9 billion for the humanitarian needs of Ukraine, kr750 million for the reconstruction of infrastructure, and kr316 million for reformation.
