Switzerland Increases Investment in Ukraine’s Digitization Program

On 28 May, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and SDC signed the Agreement on Increasing Funding as part of the "E-Government for Accountability of Authority and Public Participation" program

The Ministry of Finance and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) have signed an agreement to expand assistance to Ukraine under the eGovernment for Government Accountability and Community Participation (EGAP) program, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation and the Innovabridge Foundation.

The program is managed by the Foundation Eastern Europe and Innovabridge. Under the Agreement, funding for the development of e-services in the areas of pensions and social protection is increased to $7 million. The funds will also be used to develop e-democracy services and to increase Ukrainians' digital literacy.

Thanks to the partnership, the Ministry of Finance has introduced many services, change the place of registration and payment of taxes online in a few clicks, automatic registration of private individuals, Diia, digital education and more. Patricia Danzi, Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, stated that the experience of Ukraine is innovative and useful for other countries, as some digital services have no analogs in the world.

The agreement is a continuation of the memorandum of cooperation, which the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Ministry of Finance signed in September 2019. This became possible due to Ukraine's significant results in digitalization.

"The team of the Ministry of Finance has already laid the foundation of a digital state. We are building it so that Ukrainians can live in a new, comfortable and just country. In cooperation with the EGAP Program, we create convenient online services that simplify the lives of Ukrainians. We are grateful for the support of our partners. The digital revolution continues," said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation in alliance with EGAP has already introduced such services as eBaby, automatic registration of individual entrepreneurs through the application Diia, Education, and also paying taxes and changing the place of registration online.
