On 15 December, the Ukrainian government adopted a draft amending certain legislative acts concerning multimedia products. Registered importers and exporters no longer need to obtain control marks. The new Act removes the need for "stickers" for such goods as:
- Computer programs;
- Databases, etc.
It means that the termination of the mechanism will help the legal distributors of the products mentioned above avoid unnecessary cost expenditure. In the Verkhovna Rada, the highest legislative body of Ukraine, such repeal is called the elimination of an outdated and ineffective law. At the same time, it is noted that the application of the protection of audio and video goods must be implemented by the copyright owner or the organization in charge of the sale.
It will be possible to observe how copyright subjects will be protected from pirate activity in Ukraine from the beginning of the new year.
