Recently, the European Parliament signed a resolution according to which the Russian Federation is recognized as a sponsor of terrorism. American senators Roger Wicker and Ben Cardin now propose that the Secretary of State recognize the private military organization Wagner as a terrorist. Politicians have already published a bipartisan bill. According to it, all mercenaries, successors, and owners of the Russian military company are members of a terrorist group.
The bill's passage would mean that all people associated with Yevhen Pryhozhyn would be subject to criminal sanctions. Also, the assets of Russian mercenaries and their leaders will be seized in all countries of the world.
Americans believe that members of Wagner commit terrible crimes on the territory of Ukraine, so they must be appropriately punished.
"Vladimir Putin and his henchmen will stop at nothing to achieve their goals, including using mercenaries like the Wagner group to commit atrocities on their behalf. The US should declare this "shadow army" what it is: a foreign terrorist group. We must bring them to justice, along with all those who support them, said congressman Wicker.
The European Parliament is considering such a question. Some representatives of the European Parliament believe that the group of the ally of the Russian president violates international law in Ukraine. The European Parliament also states that Ukraine is not Wagner’s first victim. Before a neighbouring state, Wagner committed crimes in Syria, Sudan, and the Central African Republic. The MPs have already written the relevant letter and sent it to the president of the EU Council, Tomas Fiala and the European Union president Charles Michel for consideration.
