In 1999, the сabinet of ьinisters of Ukraine ratified the Agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments with the пovernment of Russia. The annexation of Crimea and the attack on Ukraine in 2014 are already grounds for a break because these actions of Russia directly and criminally violate the terms of the agreement.
On April 18, the сabinet of ministers decided to terminate the agreement, and further, the decision will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.
"The agreement concluded more than 20 years ago provides, in particular, the provision of protection guarantees for Russian investments in Ukraine. Therefore, it is obvious: if in the coming years, Russian funds will work in our country, then only confiscated from the aggressor or paid by him voluntarily as compensation for the damage caused. And this is the only thing we have to guarantee to the terrorist state now,” the minister of economy Yuliya Svyridenko.
We remind you that Naftogaz Ukraine proved in court that Russia's actions violate the investment protection agreement.
