Ukrainian ambassador to Germany Andrii Melnyk gave an interview on one of the Ukrainian TV channels. In an interview, he said that Germany is preparing to hand over air defense to Ukraine. At the moment, it is known that the anti-aircraft weapons have the latest equipment and are not yet in service with the Berlin Army. Germany has allocated $178 million from the budget to provide such assistance to Ukraine.
"I am proud that our team and I have managed to overcome the insane political resistance and, in close behind-the-scenes cooperation with the manufacturer — Diehl Defence — to secure a contract to purchase the first such system worth 178 million euros, at the expense of the German government," Andrii Melnyk said.
Also, the Ukrainian politician noted that the country received an important offer from the German arms manufacturer. German production wants to hand over self-propelled artillery units Panzerhaubitze to Ukraine. The country attacked by Russia is interested in such tanks. However, it is necessary to wait for the German government to respond to such a request. After Berlin gives the "green light," Ukraine will be able to talk about the details of the purchase.
