The Day of the National Flag of Ukraine

Energising yellow and freedom blue

The appearance of such a holiday in Ukraine is devoted to the history of the Ukrainian state and the formation of symbols of independent Ukraine. In 1848 during the Spring of Peoples, the world became aware of the blue-yellow flag – the flag of Ukraine. In the same year, it first appeared over the city hall in Lviv. History changed, but in 1991, before Ukraine declared independence, a blue-yellow flag was raised above the parliament building. On 23 August 1991, deputies introduced the flag of Ukraine to the session hall and then raised it in the capital.

The country's symbols chose these colours because they tell the Ukrainian sky and fertile fields without a vessel. With the arrival of the aggressor on an independent territory, these signs have become even more meaningful.

"Blue is a peaceful sky over the whole country. It is safe for swimming and navigation in the Black and Azov Seas. This is the mighty Dnipro, the restored Kakhovka reservoir. The yellow colour is the fields of the fertile Ukrainian land. Sands on the coast of our Crimea and Kherson region. This is a warm sun in Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, "said the prime minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

The president of Ukraine also congratulated his people on the holiday. Today, in the heart of Ukraine, we raise a special flag. He said that today, a special flag was raised in Kyiv: words from the defenders and defenders of Ukraine were left on it.

The Ukrainian flag became a symbol of beauty and invincibility.
