A historic moment for Ukraine — the state received the status of a candidate for EU membership. The European online publication EURACTIV reported this. This is a significant and essential step for Ukraine, which we undoubtedly deserve.
"The European Council has decided to grant candidate status to Ukraine and to the Republic of Moldova," EURACTIV quoted a draft EU decision granting Ukraine new status.
"A first progress assessment report on the fulfillment of the conditions is expected as part of the Commission's regular enlargement package by the end of this year," the authors of the draft decision comment.
Having repulsed Russia on February 24, Ukrainians still pay in blood to prove that they belong to a European family. "Ukrainians are ready to die for the European perspective. We want them to live with us the European dream," Ursula von der Leyen.
As for Georgia, the EU also has a decision: "The European Council is ready to grant Georgia candidate status after considering the priorities set out in the Commission's opinion on Georgia's application for membership."
At the summit tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, Ukraine will receive recommendations for further movement of the country in the European direction.
