The EU Mission has published a report on Ukraine’s readiness for “industrial visa-free travel”

A preliminary assessment commission at the Ministry of Economy confirmed the readiness of the infrastructure of Ukraine for the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement

The preliminary assessment mission of the EU lasted 7 months and covered such sectors as the compliance of vertical and horizontal legislation of Ukraine on technical regulation, standardization, metrology, conformity assessment, accreditation and consumer protection with EU legislation.

The ACAA agreement is a recognition of the equivalence of the European technical regulation and conformity assessment system, which allows manufacturers of industrial products to receive all the necessary certificates in Ukraine. The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU provides for the creation of an “industrial visa-free”, that is, Ukrainian-made products will be marked accordingly, and the corresponding certificates will be recognized in the EU countries without additional tests. Low-voltage electrical equipment, electromagnetic compatibility of equipment and machinery are recognized as priority sectors for the introduction of industrial visa-free travel.

The report on the readiness of the infrastructure of Ukraine with the conclusion of the ACAA was published on May 5, 2020 in the presence of the EU delegation to Ukraine, members of the European Commission and Minister of development and economy of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

“The expert working group held 18 online meetings, which resulted in a number of recommendations. We are talking about the need to expand the list of EU documents for assessment in order to conclude the ACAA Agreement, a new format of the Tables of compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation and improvements in priority sectors”, said Taras Kachka.

The work of the preliminary assessment commission of the EU began in November 2020. During the next dialogues, the topics of investment in Ukrainian infrastructure and technical assistance will be raised. Following the meeting of representatives of the EU and Ukraine, the preliminary assessment work will be completed and work will begin to obtain a mandate to conclude the ACAA Agreement.
