The First Ambassador of Ireland with Residence in Ukraine Officially Began Work

According to the press service of the president's office, the embassy of Ireland has opened in Kyiv

As a result of the visit, president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy received credentials from the first ambassador of Ireland with residence in Ukraine Teresa Gili.

Zelensky stressed the importance of the opening of the Irish embassy in Kyiv in the process of growing international relations.

"It is important that for the first time before independence Ukraine has the Embassy of Ireland. I am confident that the dialogue between our countries will only strengthen,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is also worth mentioning that on the same evening the president of Ukraine received credentials from the new ambassador of Armenia Volodymyr Karapetyan, the ambassador of Korea Kim Hyun Te, and the ambassador of Nigeria Shina Fatay Alege.

On June 8, 2021, the first time in the history of bilateral relations, the embassy of Ireland opened. Prior to that, the Irish ambassador to Prague worked part-time in Ukraine.

The office of the Irish embassy was opened next to the EU delegation to Ukraine.
