The First Smile of Zelenskyy in War

The president talked to the stolen mayor of Melitopol

10 Russian troops kidnapped Ivan Fedoriv, the mayor of the Ukrainian city of Melitopol, last week. The mayor was held in the occupied territory of the Luhansk region. At that time, in his place, another politician was calling Ukrainians to change their nationality — to become Russians.

Fortunately, this move by the occupiers was a failure. Ukrainian people are not going to give up. In addition, the mayor of Melitopol was able to return in exchange for 9 Russian prisoners of war. They were conscripts born in 2002-2003.

Immediately after the deal, Volodymyr Zelenskyy contacted the affected Fedorov.

Zelenskyy made a phone call. The president thanked the Mayor for his courage and dedication, wished to restore health and return to the ranks of the Ukrainian defenses. In doing so, the president smiled for the first time in a long time.
