The head of state signed a law that equates e-passports to paper

The law comes into force on 23 August 2021

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine" On the Unified State Demographic Register and Documents Confirming the Citizenship of Ukraine, Proof of Personality or its Special Status "No. 1368-IX, which the parliament adopted on March 30, 2021

Today, about 5 million citizens of Ukraine use e-passports (digital images of passports in the form of ID-cards) through the mobile application of the portal of public services "Diia".

The law, which was signed by the Head of State, enshrines at the legislative level the definition of an e-passport and an e-passport for traveling abroad and equates them to physical counterparts. This will make it possible to use these digital documents when traveling by rail or air within Ukraine; during medical care or banking transactions; to receive administrative, invest.com/investing-in-ukraine/starting-business-in-ukraine/build-a-hotel/" rel="dofollow">hotel, telecommunication, library and postal services; when purchasing goods in a store and to verify identity at the request of the police and law enforcement agencies.

E-passports are available only to those Ukrainians who have an ID card or biometric passport. Their main advantages are security against counterfeiting, ease of receipt and ease of use.
