On June 11, a delegation headed by Mariam Almheiri — climate change and environment, head of the office of international affairs under the president of UAE, arrived in Kyiv. The visit took place on the 5th day after the Kakhovka tragedy, and this event became the main topic of the negotiations. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mariam Almheiri discussed the situation in Kherson and the consequences of the disaster. This situation is a clear confirmation that sanctions do not work 100%. As long as Russia can bypass sanctions and find support in other states, catastrophes like Kakhovskaya will continue. Today, about 10 companies from the UAE were found to be cooperating with Russia, and a representative of the president's office asked the Emirates side to "take fair measures."
Russia continues to produce lethal devices to destroy Ukrainian power grids and civilian infrastructure. This suggests that other states need to carefully review Russian dual-use goods and block their imports.
Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets informed Mariam Almheiri about the situation with the population of Ukraine during the war: the dead, forcibly deported, internally displaced persons and temporarily sheltered in another country. It is extremely difficult to ensure human rights in the temporarily Russian-controlled territories of Ukraine, so it is essential to liberate Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and other occupied territories as soon as possible.
The situation with prisoners of war and the conditions of their detention and exchange were discussed separately.
