On April 3, the minister of foreign trade and development cooperation of the Netherlands Liesje Schreinemacher announced the decision of the kingdom to allocate €274 million for urgent assistance in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The funds will go towards several areas:
- €100 million — the restoration of key and civil infrastructure (energy centres, residential buildings, schools, hospitals, etc.);
- €20 million for humanitarian assistance to the population and €10 million for psychological assistance to victims;
- €10 million — clearance of agricultural land.
Separately, the Netherlands will contribute €75 million to the NATO trust fund, 14 of which will support work to bring war criminals to justice. Another €5 million is earmarked for the state to "protect and preserve the identity-defining culture" of Ukraine and its people.
Also, minister Schreinemacher has appointed a "special envoy" who will be responsible for the participation of Dutch businesses in the reconstruction of Ukraine and will moderate this process.
