The Netherlands has announced the purchase of 51 mobile radars for Ukraine, designed to detect and neutralize drones. The unique feature of these radars is their ability to operate while moving on a platform, making them harder for adversaries to detect and disable. The radars, capable of distinguishing drones from other objects like birds, will continuously scan the environment for threats, ensuring robust and uninterrupted defense against enemy drones.
The contract was signed at the Robin Radar Systems plant in The Hague, with the Dutch Ministry of Defense expecting to deliver the radars to Ukraine in stages, starting in the last quarter of 2024. This move is part of a broader effort to strengthen Ukraine's defense systems amid ongoing conflict.
Additionally, the Netherlands has committed to sending 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine by the end of the summer, further bolstering Ukraine's military capabilities. These tanks were purchased jointly with Denmark and have been overhauled by the German company Rheinmetall.
