Last weekend, the Russian army dealt a heavy blow to Ukraine. On the night of 9 to 10 July, the occupying forces opened fire with rocket-propelled grenades. The rockets were intended for the town with a total area of less than 13 km². The Russian army attacked socially significant buildings and high-rise residential house in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region.
Civilians suffered only in a 5-story residential building. In 2 sections of the house, about 30 apartments were destroyed. The regional military administration of the Donetsk region assumed that there were no more than 34 people under the rubble. Rescuers were able to save 6 victims and establish a connection with 2 more people.
However, on the fourth day of the search, the number of victims increased dramatically. Among those wounded in the missile attack on the apartment building, there were 9 victims instead of 6 people. The number of dead rose to 34. Among the killed was a child, who rescuers diligently searched. The number of civilians killed or, as officials of the Russian Federation said, "military facilities" may still increase.
"As of 6:30 in the morning of July 12, the civil service of emergencies cleared about 70% of the ruins. The rescue operation continues," the head of the military administration of the Donetsk region reported.
