The Number of Passengers Served by the Airports of Ukraine

In 2021, the Ukrainian airport increased the number of passengers served by 83% compared to the same period last year, their number amounted to about 14.906 million people

In international passenger traffic, the traffic at airports increased by 88.9% in January-November to almost 13.573 million people. Ukrainian airlines served 8.823 million people in the first 11 months of 2021, which is 94.6% more than in the same period last year, including 8.164 million people in international traffic. 

During the period from January to November 2021, airlines performed about 69.000 commercial flights, which is 68.3% more than last year, in particular, 56.200 international flights were made.

 In November 2021, the international airport of Ukraine served about 717.870 passengers, of which 501.109 were passengers of regular flights and the rest non-regular. Compared to the pre-crisis figures of November 2019, passenger traffic resumed by 63%.

During 11 months of the current year, about 8.73 million passengers flew through Boryspil, which is 61% compared to the pre-crisis figure. In the same period of 2019, 14.21 million passengers left and returned from the airport.

The most popular destinations for Ukrainian passengers at airports are Greece, Egypt, and Turkey. That is, in general, the number of travelers to these countries amounted to almost half of the total number of passengers, or rather 46% of the total. The largest number of people was transported to Sharm-el-Sheikh, Antalya, Istanbul, Amsterdam, and Heraklion.

Thus, Ukrainian airports in January-October this year served a total of about 13.628 million passengers. This figure was 78% higher than in the same period last year. In international passenger traffic during this period, air traffic increased by 83.2% to almost 12.404 million.

However, in 11 months of 2019, Ukrainian airports carried more than 22.6 million passengers.
