The Polish “MiG-29” for Ukraine

The first fighters of "Fulcrum" by NATO classification will be sent to the AFU asap

On March 16, the president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, announced the transfer of the MiG-29 fighter to Ukraine. According to the president, 4 jets were prepared for the first batch, which will provide protection not only to Ukraine but also to Poland and other countries.

The MiG-29, or Fulcrum by NATO classification, can carry 6 missiles simultaneously. Also, 30 mm guns can carry mines and bombs. Aircraft were transferred to Poland in the 90s. But the ministry of defence has modified them, so the MiG-29 has a modern electronic system that guarantees accurate targeting. It is possible to adjust the flight of some missiles fired from the cannon from the ground command centre.

In total, Poland has 10 such aircraft. Warsaw plans to transfer all of them for the defence of Ukraine. However, the remaining 6 aircraft are undergoing inspection and technical work. Poland fills the vacant seats with American aircraft F-35 and FA-50 from South Korea.

Today, Slovakia also decided to send MiG-29s to Ukraine.
