The Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Georgia discussed opportunities for developing cooperation between the countries

The topics of strengthening the defense capabilities of countries through the implementation of NATO standards and ways of counteracting COVID-19 were discussed separately

According to the Government Portal of Ukraine, on 7 May a telephone conversation was held between Prime-minister Denis Shmygal and Prime-minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.

Denis Shmygal congratulated Garibashvili on his appointment as Prime-minister in February and added that Georgia was an important partner of Ukraine. However, Irakli Garibashvili noted that Ukraine is a special friend to Georgia and they intend to further develop bilateral partnerships.

“We have been given an entirely new opportunity to strengthen relations between our countries. Ukraine and Georgia have very good prospects for cooperation in the fields of investing-in-ukraine/service-for-investors/logistics-providers/" rel="dofollow">logistics, transit and trade”, — said Denis Shmygal.

The return of the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine was discussed separately. In Shmygal’s view, this is a very important point on the way to accelerating the integration of countries. The PM of Ukraine also confirmed his readiness to come to Georgia for a personal meeting with Garibashvili.

In order to bring inter-State relations to a new level, a proposal was made by Ukraine to reactivate the work of the “Joint Inter-Parliamentary commission on economic cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia”.
