On February 27, Russian invaders and barbarians deliberately destroyed the legendary, world-famous Mriia aircraft. This is the national pride of Ukraine and Ukrainians, a miracle of engineering genius — Ukrainian aircraft designer Oleg Antonov. Mriia stood peacefully in the hangar of the Gostomel airport, and not only Ukrainians mourn, but the whole world, to which Mriia delivered medicines during the pandemic and strategically important goods.
Mriia served Ukraine and the world for 34 years.
“Russia hit the Mriia as a symbol of the capabilities of Ukrainian aviation. AN-225 Mriia is an aviation giant, which holds records for the transportation of the maximum commercial cargo and the longest and heaviest monocargo in the history of aviation, carrying capacity. Russia has destroyed our Mriia ("mriia" means "dream" in Ukrainian. Editor's note), but the dream of a Ukraine free from an occupier cannot be destroyed. We will fight for our land and home to the bitter end. And after the victory, we will certainly, you hear, we will definitely complete the construction of our new Mriia, which has been waiting for this in a safe place for many years. Everything will be Ukraine!”, CEO of Ukroboronprom Yurii Husev.
The Mriia cannot be restored, so our government will take all measures so that Russia fully bears the cost of building a new aircraft. Preliminary calculations show that the construction of the new Mriia will take more than 5 years and about $3 billion.
