The Ukrainian application Obimy was downloaded in the US App Store more than Tinder, Pinterest and Netflix. Obimy is a transliteration of the Ukrainian word обійми, which translates as hugs. Accordingly, through this application, users can virtually hug, kiss, and share feelings with each other.
From the day of its creation in 2020 until August 5, the Obimy application was downloaded 6.5 million times. The average DAU is 500.000. This brought Obimy first place in the Lifestyle category.
According to the developers of the application, the success was influenced by the last update: reducing the clicks required for virtual hugs from 5 to 2. A new design was also created and opportunities for sharing feelings were expanded.
"If earlier in one session people sent an average of 2 actions, then in August — 5. And this indicator is increasing. Every day our users send about four million senses," commented the developers of Obimy.
