The Sakharov prize of the European Parliament is the highest award in the field of human rights. According to Roberta Metsola, all groups of the European Parliament unanimously agreed on this year's Sakharov prize For Freedom of Thought laureate: "To the brave Ukrainian people, represented by the country's president, elected leaders and civil society."
"They are standing up for what they believe in. Fighting for our values. Protecting democracy, freedom & the rule of law. Risking their lives for us. And today, proud winners of the EU Parliament Sakharov Prize. No one is more deserving. Congratulations to the brave people of Ukraine!" Roberta Metsola.
The award ceremony will take place on December 14 in Strasbourg. Representatives of the Ukrainian departments have not yet named the person who will represent Ukraine at the award ceremony.
