The United States supports Ukraine’s plans for NATO Membership

US secretary Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine today has all the necessary tools for further progress in this direction

During a hearing before the senate foreign relations Committee, US secretary Anthony Blinken commented on Ukraine's membership in NATO: “We support Ukraine's membership in NATO. And today it has all the necessary tools for further progress in this direction. Since the NATO Membership action plan was developed, several other very important tools have been developed to help countries prepare for possible membership, including an annual program that we believe Ukraine will only benefit from”.

For many years the United States has been in close contact with Ukraine and works almost on a daily basis.

The Secretary of US underlined the need for a consensus of the plan with other NATO members: "I think some countries now support it less than others, but regardless of the plan, Ukraine has the tools to move forward to be ready for future membership".

On June 7, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and US president Joe Biden held telephone talks and discussed all possible perspectives between countries.
