The USA, Canada and France Ask Their Citizens to Leave Russia

Citizens of progressive countries are advised to refrain from travelling to Russia/Belarus due to the risk of "arbitrary application of local laws"

The government portals of Canada, the United States, and France have published reports on the level of danger for foreign citizens on the territory of Russia and Belarus. The website of the parliament of Canada has published a request for its citizens to immediately leave the aggressor country and the collaborator country, as well as to refrain from planning trips of any nature to these countries. The basis for this is the "arbitrary application of local laws". Moreover, Canada has limited the provision of consular services at the Belarusian embassy: "You should not count on the Canadian government to help you leave the country." Citizens who cannot yet leave these countries or have decided to stay of their own accord are advised to stock up on cash and essentials, follow the news and be ready to go to shelters at any second.

France: "In the context of the armed offensive launched by Russia against Ukraine and the closure of Belarusian airspace, any trips to Belarus are officially not recommended." Citizens must leave the country through border crossing points in Lithuania, Poland and Latvia.

Due to the "unforeseen consequences of an unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian armed forces," the United States embassy in Moscow is also advising American citizens to leave Russia and not to travel to Russia for business or tourism purposes.
