The minister of energy of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, announced that in 2023 not a single document was signed on the export of gas from the aggressor country. In addition, the government is in the process of breaking contracts that had been signed before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Preparations for the complete abandonment of the Kremlin's services have already started – the government is negotiating with companies that depend on the Russian Federation's liquefied gas.
Minister Jetten said that ending contracts with a country that is at war with a neighboring state would not be dangerous for the country's residents. Today, the Netherlands develops its own sources.
"We must do everything we can to make sure that our system is free of Russian fossil fuels and that we have succeeded with regard to coal, pipeline gas and oil," said Jettan.
Let us recall that last year the Netherlands already refused the services of an aggressor. The country's government did not succumb to Putin's manipulation and refused to pay for gas supplies in Russian currency.
