In the first half of 2021, Ukraine increased exports by 30% compared to the first half of 2020: up to $29.97 billion. The increase in the indicator compared to the first half of 2019 was 22%. Although among the goods athat are mostly exported from Ukraine are foodstuffs, when it comes to the growth, the main drivers were ore and ferrous metals.
Since its early to take stock of 2021 export figures, the TOP-10 goods exported from Ukraine in 2020 include:
- Sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oil and their fractions, unrefined or refined, but without change in chemical composition. It amounted to 10.8% ($ 5.31 billion)
- Corn: 9.92% ($ 4.88 billion)
- Iron ores and concentrates, including roasted pyrite, which amounted to 8.61% ($ 4.23 billion)
- Wheat and meslin: 7.3% ($ 3.59 billion)
- Semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel:5.57% ($ 2.74 billion)
- Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, 600 mm wide or more, hot-rolled, unclad, not plated or coated: 3.24% ($ 1.59 billion)
- Insulated (including enamelled or anodized) wires, cables (including coaxial cables) and other insulated electrical conductors, with or without connectors; fiber optic cables composed of fibers: 2.74% ($ 1.35 billion)
- Oil cakes and other solid waste obtained from the recovery of vegetable fats or oils, other than waste of heading 2304 or 2305, unmilled or ground, not granular or granular: 2.39% ($ 1.17 billion)
- Rapeseed, or colza, whether or not broken: 2.04% ($ 1 billion)
- Pig iron and mirror pigs, ingots or other primary forms: 1.87% ($ 922 million)
To summarize, total exports to Ukraine amounted to $49 billion in 2020. Taking into account the growth, mentioned above, this year's export figures are expected to exceed the ones of the previous year. The observations on the dynamic are most certaintly positive.
