Turkey became the largest buyer of Ukrainian corn in the 2025–2026 marketing year, importing 6.5 million tonnes. Ukraine’s total corn exports reached 21 million tonnes, confirming the strategic role of Black Sea trade routes and nearby high-volume markets.
European and Mediterranean buyers dominate
Italy ranked second with 3.8 million tonnes, followed by Spain with 1.9 million, the Netherlands with 1.7 million and Israel with 934,000 tonnes. The geography reflects demand from feed, livestock and food-processing industries with access to maritime logistics.
Total agricultural exports declined
Ukraine exported 41.1 million tonnes of grain and oilseeds during the season, 12 percent less than in the previous marketing year. Lower overall shipments increase the importance of reliable buyers, port capacity, freight economics and predictable trade access.
For producers and traders, Turkey’s leading position diversifies demand and shortens delivery compared with more distant destinations. Future competitiveness will depend on harvest volumes, quality, storage, insurance, port operations and the ability to keep logistics functioning under wartime risk.
