UK Allocates $155 Million to Maritime Coalition Supporting Ukraine

The United Kingdom has announced an additional allocation of £120 million (approximately $155 million) to support the Maritime Capability Coalition for Ukraine

This funding aims to bolster Ukraine's naval defenses amid increased tensions in the Black Sea region.

Official Government Statement

According to a statement published on the British government's website:

"The UK will provide an additional £120 million to the Maritime Capability Coalition and is seeking partners to co-fund the supply of hundreds of maritime drones as well as surveillance radars to protect the grain corridor."

Response to Escalating Attacks

The new funding comes in the wake of intensified Russian attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure in the Black Sea. The support is intended to enhance Ukraine's maritime security and protect vital grain export routes.

Joint Funding with Norway

Britain and Norway are collaborating to secure approximately $130 million in joint funding for the coalition. This partnership highlights the international effort to strengthen Ukraine's naval capabilities.

Previous Military Support to Ukraine

Ukraine has already received significant military aid within the coalition's framework, including:

  • Dozens of amphibious all-terrain vehicles and raiding boats
  • Hundreds of anti-ship missiles
  • Hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition
