Ukraine Allocates UAH 15.5 Billion for Acquisition of 300,000 Drones

The Ukrainian government has approved an additional allocation of UAH 15.5 billion for the procurement of 300,000 drones to bolster the country’s defense capabilities

This funding will be managed by the State Special Communications Service, responsible for this substantial procurement effort.

Details of the Allocation:

  • The newly allocated funds are aimed at supporting the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.
  • This is in addition to the UAH 43.3 billion previously designated for drone procurement this year.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal highlighted that the allocation was made possible by redistributing unused funds collected from the "military personal income tax" in 2023. He also referenced the significant role of the Brave1 defense technology cluster, which has registered over 1,600 developments across 12 sectors in its first year.

The government has also supported these initiatives with 186 grants totaling more than UAH 120 million for research and development and production scale-up. For the current fiscal year, the state budget includes UAH 1.5 billion in grants for defense-tech solution developers.
