Ukraine and Ireland Sign Bilateral Security Agreement

On September 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris signed a bilateral security agreement to enhance cooperation and support for Ukraine

The agreement highlights Ireland's commitment to providing Ukraine with both military and humanitarian assistance.

As part of the agreement, Ireland has pledged an additional €128 million for non-lethal military aid and at least €40 million for humanitarian support. The country will also supply demining systems and explosive ordnance disposal equipment, continuing its participation in the demining coalition. Ireland is exploring other support avenues, including potential contributions to defense coalitions such as the IT Coalition.

The agreement outlines Ireland's commitment to training Ukraine’s Armed Forces through the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM). In addition to military aid, it includes provisions for humanitarian assistance, recovery efforts, and reforms, particularly as Ukraine progresses toward EU membership.

Ireland has also pledged to support diplomatic efforts to hold Russia accountable for damages caused by its aggression and to reinforce sanctions. The country will actively participate in the implementation of the Peace Formula and contribute to the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
