Ukraine and Latvia signed the Declaration on the European perspective of Ukraine

The Presidents discussed strengthening common efforts for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union

Vladimir Zelensky and Egils Levits held a videoconference during which they discussed methods to combat COVID-19, statistics promoting immunization, and agreed on the need for unimpeded access by EU partner countries to a coronavirus vaccine. The Presidents also stressed the need to restore the scope of trade and economic relations between the countries.

As a result of the conference, a Declaration was signed, which marks Ukraine’s success in implementing the Association Agreement with the EU. The heads of State are convinced of the need to reconsider the "Eastern partnership" initiative. Egils Levits confirmed Latvia’s willingness to support Ukraine in its bid for EU membership.

Latvia is the third State with which Ukraine signed the Declaration: Poland and Lithuania had previously joined the circle of strategic partners of Ukraine.
