Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere

“Lithuania remains our strategic trade and economic partner, which is in the TOP-10 countries in terms of bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and European countries. Our countries have great prospects for dynamic development in key areas of the economy. We are also interested in the exchange of experience in the field of public procurement, which is an important mechanism for supporting small and medium-sized producers,” said the minister of economy of Ukraine Volodymyr Grinyuk.

Thus, the parties exchanged information on trade and investment opportunities. In particular, as of March 31, 2021, Lithuania has invested $148,7 million in the Ukrainian economy in such industries as wholesale and retail trade, real estate operations, financial and insurance activities, and construction.

In the context of enhancing economic cooperation between the countries, it is important to establish direct contacts between Ukrainian and Lithuanian businesses, as well as to hold joint business forums, B2B meetings, etc.

Among the promising areas of Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation are industry, the supply of engineering products to Lithuania, including for the agro-industrial complex, the organization of joint ventures for cooperation, aircraft construction, shipbuilding, digital technologies, telecommunications, and logistics.

At the end of 2020, the volume of bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and Lithuania amounted to $1,24 billion, at the end of four months of 2021 — $450 million.
