Ukraine and Poland Sign Memorandum to Expand Defense-Industrial Trade

Ukrainian state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom and Poland’s Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) have signed a memorandum on collaboration in ammunition production, servicing of armored vehicles and artillery systems, and strengthening air defense capabilities

Key Areas of Cooperation

  1. Ammunition Production
Ukraine and Poland will work together to boost the manufacture of critical munitions, addressing growing demands on both sides.

  2. Maintenance of Armored Vehicles and Artillery
The memorandum outlines plans to jointly maintain and service military hardware, ensuring faster repairs and reducing logistical bottlenecks.

  3. Air Defense Systems
Both countries aim to enhance air defense by pooling expertise on advanced anti-aircraft technologies.

Additional Financial Resources and Programs

The agreement also sets the stage for tapping into financing from the European Defense Strategy (EDIS) and the European Defense Industrial Program (EDIP)—key tools for bolstering European-wide defense capacities.

“I am very grateful to the Polish government for coordinating our two countries’ defense industries at such a high level, especially under the challenging conditions we face. There is a significant need for explosives, critical components, and expanded industrial production, not only among defense enterprises but also across entire industrial sectors,”
German Smetanin, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine

Smetanin added that closer collaboration could enhance the security of both Ukraine and Poland, contributing to greater stability in the region.
