Ukraine and the United States in the Discussion on the Fertility of Ukrainian Lands and Agricultural Innovations

On July 27, UN Ambassador for Global Sustainable Development Vadym Ivchenko discussed the promotion of the concept of preserving soil fertility in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of American innovative technologies in agriculture during a meeting with American colleagues

Thus, Vadim Ivchenko during a meeting with Chester Green Atkins — a former member of the US House of Representatives, a democrat from Massachusetts, and Bill Delahunt, a well-known American lawyer, politician, member of the Democratic Party, visited the agricultural company Indigo Carbon.

“This modern company uses the latest technologies in agricultural activities, in particular, carbon agriculture, which will soon become a future routine for the whole world. Its goal is to use carbon from the atmosphere, where it causes global warming, to grow plants in the soil. Also impressive are the innovative technologies in agriculture, which help increase yields with the help of microbes to make plants more resilient,” said Ivchenko.

According to the parliamentarian, it is time for Ukrainian farmers to "look closely" at these technologies, using the experience of American colleagues who are willing to share them.

“The main thing is that during the meeting we enlisted the support of senators in promoting the concept of preserving the fertility of our soils in Ukraine, as well as our country's full implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement as a key precondition for change. It was a really interesting tour and communication with a powerful team that understands and sees how Ukraine’s future agricultural policy is linked to American innovation and senators who are ready to support us in this,” the politician summed up.
