“Ukraine Became One of the Defining Trade Partners of the EU”

In September, the second round of negotiations between Ukraine and the European Union on the abolition of customs tariffs in bilateral trade in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU will take place

The press service of the Cabinet of ministers of Ukraine announced a meeting between the EU executive vice prime minister Valdis Dombrovskis and the prime minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal. The representative of Ukraine raised the topic of increasing the quotas of permits for Ukrainian carriers from 2021 inclusive.

“I hope the European Commission will assist in making the final decision on increasing the quotas for permits. After all, this is a very important issue for Ukrainian medium-sized businesses,” Shmyhal said.

Valdis Dombrovskis noted the increase in trade between Ukraine and the EU by 50%. This was a positive expected consequence of the agreement on a deep and comprehensive free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union.

“The deep and comprehensive Free Trade Agreement is much broader and more important than just a trade deal. It will contribute to the development of multilateral relations between Ukraine and the EU in the future,” said Dombrovskis.

According to Denys Shmygal, the negotiations on the conclusion of the ACAA have become "more dynamic".
