In June 2022, Ukraine applied to join the Council of Europe Development Bank, as this membership will bring Ukraine invaluable benefits in restoring the economic and social condition on the path to European integration.
On June 15, a few days after the 56th Joint Meeting of CEB in Greece, the candidacy for membership of Ukraine was accepted under exceptional conditions — without paying a membership fee: "...as a tangible sign of support in light of the exceptional circumstances that Ukraine is facing," CEB.
"Ukraine's accession to the CEB is a great honour. It is a testimony to the confidence that Ukraine places in the Bank's capacity to deliver and its value-added to support the country's recovery, reconstruction and long-term social development," the head of CEB Karlo Monticelli.
Ukraine's participation is part of CEB's Strategic Framework 2023-2027. The Bank will develop its activities in Ukraine, focusing especially on social areas: health care and housing infrastructure.
