Ukraine increased exports of insulated wires and cables in the first five months of 2026, keeping this industrial segment active despite pressure on manufacturing and logistics. The category includes conventional insulated cable products as well as fiber-optic lines.
According to customs statistics, export revenue rose by just over three percent compared with the same period of 2025 and reached more than six hundred twelve million dollars. Germany remained the largest buyer, taking roughly a third of Ukrainian shipments. Hungary and Poland also stayed among the three key destinations.
European demand remains central
The figures show that Ukrainian cable production continues to be tied closely to European supply chains. Stable sales to Germany, Hungary and Poland are important because these markets set quality, delivery and certification expectations for producers.
At the same time, May showed a weaker monthly result. Exports declined compared with both May 2025 and April 2026, suggesting that demand and shipment timing remain uneven.
Imports are rising faster. Ukraine increased purchases of wires and cables by more than twenty percent, with China, Hungary and Poland among the leading suppliers. For local industry, this means both opportunity and competition: domestic producers keep export positions, while Ukrainian buyers still rely heavily on imported components and finished cable products.
